Another Update - less rushed, and with pictures
We have the afternoon free today, so I opted for quiet and productive by choosing the internet cafe instead of the mall. It’s taking forever to upload pictures on this thing, so you’ll just get the main ideas from pictures instead of everything I’m seeing. That is, atleast, until I find a faster internet connection. I have been spoiled by Georgia Tech.
I think the easiest thing to do will be to show and describe what’s been going on in list form. Here we go.
Our apartment is pretty great. We’re trying to figure out how we can rig a hammock to our itty bitty porch. Out bathroom is pretty fun, minus the vent that lets out steam and lets hot air and bugs in. We’ve already put up tons of photos.

Hanging out at the Grapevine is a lot of fun. Yesterday we had Thai lessons from Ja, Goi, and Uh-oh, played Apples to Apples, and watched Rushmore. That’s also where we had the crazy Fear Factor eating contest with the crazy dried fish you see below. They see you too.

It’s really hot here. I just thought I’d add that. We had a scavenger hunt (more like the amazing race with checkpoints) today and it was a lot of fun but really hot. The best part was meeting by the Naga, or giant serpents by the stadium. Aren’t they amazing?

There are lots of other pictures if you click on my photo page, either from the link to Flickr on the side bar or from the top menu. Do check them out, and leave comments too. I’d love to hear what you think!
Stephanie and I are going to check out the local coffee shop and work on our email newsletters. Weather.com says that it’s 98 here and because of the humidity it feels like 109! I can believe it.
Hey darling, I am so glad that you had a chance to post more pictures. Thailand looks beautiful. I’m going to have a rather busy day today, besides going to class and getting ahead in my lab, I am hoping to go visit A Small Orange today. ASO is the same webhosting company for The Grapevine which is how I was informed of checking it out. If I am lucky they will host me for free, otherwise I’ll have to pay for a (mt) account. Later tonight I’ll try to email you. Love you, Chris
Hey Meagan, Great photos? Bangkok looks beautiful. Can’t imagine how pretty the rest of the country is, especially the coast. So you’ve been in Thailand for a week and you already broke down and went to McDonalds?
How was the Samurai Pork Burger with cheese??? Tina and I went to the sold out Arctic Monkeys show at the Tabernacle Saturday night and it was amazing. One of the best live shows I’ve seen in awhile. Jim, Kenny, John and I are heading to Bonnaroo Thursday morning. We’re Looking forward to seeing Radiohead Saturday night. Keep the updates and photos coming and be safe.
Love you lots,
Uncle Greg
haha. sounds like y’all are having a blast! jesse probably wasn’t too phased by having to eat the dried fish. my dad sent me 2 bags of those when he came back from japan, sort of like japanese chex mix or something.
anyways, keep having fun and taking pictures! sounds like greg is rubbing it in that he’s going to see radiohead. oh well, you’re having fun!
love you! good luck learning thai! and i can’t wait to see more pics!
kevin just left
but he’ll be back well before you will. haha.
Hi Meagan! I love your website. The pictures are great. It looks like you are doing well. What did you think of the Sardines? Is McDonalds anything like the ones in the U.S.? Email me and let me know when the best time we can hook up with Google Talk.
Love, Dad
Hey Meagan! Great site. I am so unbelivably jealous of you guys. I wish I was there. They told you not to ride the motorcycle taxis? Hm… I rode those all the time. Well, I guess it is kinda dangerous since they are usually driving against traffic and all. I’ve never actually been in VKP, do they not have Internet available at all? As for the guys in Twin Town, that’s where Derrick and Drew lived and they were sometimes able to hop onto SIIT’s network, so they might try that.
I’m so excited for you guys. Keep learning the language. The best 6 months of your life have just begun.
