I got in a fight with an oven…
and you should see the burn on my arm! At first all I knew was that it hurt terribly. Apparently I’m not a great judge of the severity of injuries. I burnt it on one of the commercial/industrial ovens at CCF earlier this afternoon while cleaning up after Devo Lunch. The burn is about 3 inches long and and 1 inch wide, is reddish-purple, and has begun to really blister. The nurses looked pretty concerned about it, which surprised me because I was content covering it in aloe. Burns are obviously a much bigger deal than I thought, especially 2nd degree ones. After 45 minutes in the health center with 3 nurses running around getting supplies, making sure that everything they touch me with is positively sterile, as burns can easily become infected, which I did not know, I leave with a bag full of gauze, bandages, tape, rubber gloves, and cotton swabs to apply something class “silver sulferdiazine.” It does not stop there, however, there’s this giant bandage that takes up over half of my forearm. I look as though I have been attacked by some wild beast and not by an oven that was just set at 450-500 degrees. Although, I’m not sure which is worse at this point.
In other news, I made a B on my last Japanese exam of the semester, aside from the final, which is definitely something to celebrate. There was this really messed up part that I have to talk to my teacher about though. Either way, I’m pretty happy.
Chris’s website is doing quite well. It’s been 3 hours since his recent article was posted on Digg.com and it’s already on the front page with over 300 diggs. By the time you read this it will have greatly exceded that number.
