I wish! I do not have enough hours in my day for this. Today I’ll be studying Japanese hard-core, figuring out and doing CS homework, and finishing my Spanish homework, all for tomorrow. Atleast it’s Spring Break after that.
I’m always hesitant to say I’m from Hiawassee since I usually get a blank stare as a response to that, so I just say a small town in N. Georgia and then sometimes I elaborate. Sometimes people know where that is for random reasons - usually just because they went somewhere nearby for something or other. Today was by far the most interesting conversation:
So, my Japanese teacher (from Japan) not only knows of Hiawassee, but is married to a guy from there, and taught my friend Suzie (from Hiawassee) at UGA. As if that’s not weird enough, she goes to Hiawassee a lot. We have the same hang out - Mystic Mountain Coffee House. Maybe I’ll be seeing her over my break…
I got my Globalscope packet last night. Inside it was a bracelet to wear to remind me to pray. This makes the current number of bracelets from foreign places on my wrist: 4. They never come off, no matter how nice my outfit is. My small pink one has been on there for almost 2 years now; it, and 2 others, including the largest, multi-colored one, are from Peru. Maybe one day, like when I graduate, I’ll take them off. We’ll see. I’m thinking I might just take the small white one off, especially if we’ll be getting tons of friendship bracelets from Thai students like last year’s team.

Jill loaned me a collection by Thomas Lux, one of my favorite poets who also happens to be a teacher here at Tech. Such luck!
This week is looking crazy and at the same time, calm. I have a CS exam tomorrow (today), an INTA exam Wednesday, a Japanese exam, Spanish Homework and CS homework due on Friday. I feel ok about the CS test; not good, but not horrible. We’ll see what happens. I have an A in everything right now except Japanese. I’m not sure about that though; it’s a little up in the air. I have something between an 89 and a 91, but not sure where it actualy lies - I love that class… Spring Break is next week and I’m really going to need it. I’m very relieved that my Spanish teacher is post-poning our exam.
Goals for the break:
Read books that have been sitting on my desk
Write most, if not all, of the first draft of my Intro and Lit. Review for PURA
Patch my favorite jeans that have far too many holes
Cut up Hard Rock Cafe Rome shirt and put it on another shirt to make it wearable again
Sleep, tan, and work out (we’ll see about the latter)
*Confused about a lot of things. Where do I go from here? With numerous options and numerous goals which are all diverse, I have no idea where I should even begin. I feel very strongly about going into the mission field, but I also feel very strongly about continuing on towards my master’s. It’s a really tough decision because I know that I will be able to be God’s light in both places, and if I do choose to get my master’s, it will be concerning International Relations and Third World Development, which is what’d I’d want to do in the mission field anyway. I have too many dreams, too many goals, too many blessings, and too many open doors. What a relief that I’ll be here for 2.5 more years. It’s not just my future that has been messing with my head lately; it’s been a lot of things. I’ll elaborate later. It’s 2 a.m. and I am going to have to get up and study more Python programming in the morning.

I’d like a good book of poetry. I want a really good book of poetry and it can be written by all sorts of people and be about all sorts of things; I just want something wonderful to read. If anyone has any suggestions, do let me know.
This week is crazy packed. If you’d like to see me, you’ll have to sign up for an appointment. Don’t think I’m joking. Becky asked when I wanted to meet and I handed her my daily schedule laid out hour by hour.

I’m feeling a little better about this site now. Do check out the pictures page. I’ll be updating that regularly once I’m gone. The picture that you see in the header of this page is from Thailand, and hopefully I’ll be replacing it with pictures of my own once I get there.
This week is looking unbelievably slow considering my semester. It looks like I better start getting ahead, or catch up, depending upon which class we’re talking about. Hopefully I’ll get a lot of PURA hours in…
Tonight Stephanie, Jesse, Leslie, Corey, and I went with Brian Tomlin to The King & I restaurant. Brian went to Thailand 2 years ago, so he told us all sorts of things to keep in mind. It was great food, and Brian even ordered in Thai. Brian talked to us about things to do and things not to do, like don’t point your feet at people or talk bad about the royalty, but do bow when you see people. He also taught us dining ettiquete, and a few simple phrases in Thai. I think I’ll remember them more once I see them written down. I orded garlic chicken, and Stephanie got Basil chicken, both are really common in Thailand, Brian said. We both thought hers was really spicy, but Brian says it’s mild.
I need to call the Health Center to make sure I have all the immunizations I need. I’m almost done with the transfer approval forms, and I’m waiting patiently (not at all) to see if I received that award from IAC.
